Before the Event
Research
- Read the event rules and dress code
- Check if it's beginner-friendly
- Find out if there's orientation available
Prepare Yourself
- Set personal goals (what do you want from this?)
- Know your limits before you go
- Have an exit plan if needed
Safety Measures
- Tell a trusted friend where you'll be
- Arrange your own transportation
- Set check-in times
- Have a code word for "call me NOW"
At the Event
Etiquette Basics
- Consent applies to conversations too
- Don't touch people or their belongings without asking
- Don't interrupt scenes
- Keep phones away (usually no photos allowed)
